It's another week, which means it's now time to dive into the top songs of 1964. If you are new this week, I had a goal recently to determine what the top songs of all time were based on a formula that I came up with to keep track of the top songs on the Billboard charts each year. Here's the methodology: each year of the charts I go week by week, giving points to the songs that make the top 10. The #1 song gets 10 points, the #2 song gets 9 points, all the way down to the #10 song getting 1 point. I could've done the whole hot 100 like this, but that would've been too time consuming, so I just stuck to the top 10 for now. If you are wanting to check out previous years that I've done, you can follow the links at the bottom of each list to browse through the years or you can search through the blog archives on the side. It's my hope that as you scroll through this list that you take time to actually listen to the songs as you go instead of just looking at the title. This has been a great way for me to learn of new music and be reminded of songs that I may have forgotten about and I feel this can have the same effect on you, regardless of your taste in music. This year was especially a memorable one in music history as a band called The Beatles took the U.S. charts by storm, so let's check it out! 10- "My Guy" - Mary Wells
9- "A Hard Day's Night" - The Beatles
8- "A Chapel of Love" - The Dixie Cups
7- "Everybody Loves Somebody" - Dean Martin
6- "Baby Love" - The Supremes
5- "Do Wah Diddy" - Manfred Mann
4- "Where Did Our Love Go" - The Supremes
3- "Hello, Dolly!" - Louis Armstrong and The All Stars

Another week has passed which means it's now time to dive into the top songs of 1962. If you are new this week, I had a goal recently to determine what the top songs of all time were based on a formula that I came up with to keep track of the top songs on the Billboard charts each year. Here's the methodology: each year of the chart I go week by week, giving points to the songs that make the top 10. It's my personal recommendation that as you go through these lists that you actually listen to the music as you go instead of just looking at the titles. That's why I've provided the videos. It's been a great way for me to learn of new music or be reminded of some good music that I may have forgotten about. I feel that this project can do the same for you. It's Monday again, which means it's now time to dive into the second year of the 1960's. If you are new this week, I had a goal recently to determine what the top songs of all time were based on a formula that I came up with to keep track of the top songs on the Billboard charts each year. Here's the methodology: each year of the chart I go week by week, giving points to the songs that make the top 10. If you are wanting to check out previous years that I've done, you can follow the links at the bottom of each list to browse through the years or you can search through the blog archives on the side. So without further ado, let's dive into 1961! This was a year where I didn't recognize many of the songs just by the title, but when I listened to them I quickly learned there were a lot of fun songs, so for the most positive experience I suggest you listen to all the songs instead of just looking at the title. Perhaps you might discover some good music that you hadn't known before.
We're done with the 1950's now and usually that would mean that it would be time to countdown the top 100 songs of the 1950's, but because the Billboard Hot 100 didn't start until August of 1958, I feel it would be unfair to create such a list this time around because it would neglect other huge songs like Hound Dog by Elvis Presley that pre-dated the charts, so instead we are going straight to 1960. So without further ado, let's dive into 1960 because there's definitely some artists here that most people have at least heard of. We also have the beginning of the most unprecedented run in chart history. You'll see exactly what I mean as we continue through these next couple of years.
