It's time to start a new decade with this Billboard project! Our current decade! If you are new this week, I had a goal recently to determine what the top songs of all time were based on a formula that I came up with to keep track of the top songs on the Billboard charts each year. Here's the methodology: each year of the charts I go week by week, giving points to the songs that make the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. The #1 song gets 10 points, the #2 song gets 9 points, all the way down to the #10 song getting 1 point. I could've done the whole Hot 100 like this, but that would've been too time consuming, so I just stuck to the top 10 for now. If you are wanting to check out previous years that I've done, you can follow the links at the bottom of each list to browse through the years or you can search the blog archive on the right. It's my hope that as you scroll through this list that you take time to actually listen to the songs as you go instead of just looking at the title. This has been a great way for me to learn of new music and be reminded of songs that I may have forgotten about and I feel this can have the same effect on you, regardless of your taste in music. So without further delay, let's see what 2010 had to offer!
10- "Need You Now" - Lady Antebellum

DrogeMiester's Top 10 FAVORITE Hits of the 2000's
This past week I have finished revealing my list of the top 100 most popular songs of the 2000's. If you didn't see that list, click here to start the countdown. With this Billboard project, every time that I have finished counting down the top songs of each decade, I have enjoyed topping things off by giving you my list of favorite hits from that decade. Personally I was somewhat displeased with how the 2000's turned out. There was a lot of great music that was written during this decade, but the songs that rose to the top of the Billboard charts overall were a huge dip in quality when compared to every previous decade. Thus this specific list of personal favorites found me digging deeper to find the songs that deserved more attention than they got. However, note the word "hits" in the title of this post. I use that wording because my parameters here are that a song had to make the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in order to be considered. That narrows my pool from every song released to the 590 songs that made the top 10. Still a difficult ranking process, but much simpler than it could've been. Once you've gone through this, I challenge you to create and share your own list of personal favorite songs from this decade, using whatever parameters you choose. Enjoy!

The 2000's countdown is complete! You can click here for 100 - 91 to view the whole list from top to bottom if you missed any part of it, using the links at the bottom of each post or the blog archive on the side to browse through it. I'll start the 2010's soon, but before that I will give you my personal favorite hits from the 2000's, so stay tuned for that! Top 10 MOST POPULAR Songs of 2009
It's the final year of the decade! That means my 2000's countdown starts next week! So without further delay, let's see what 2009 had to offer!
